Welcome to Room 6's Blog...

We are one of the Year 3 & 4 classes at Russley School. We aim to work together well so that we can achieve success in everything we do. To help us be successful students we use the Russley Dispositions. They help us to train our brains to think successfully when we are faced with problems where the answer is not immediately known. On our Blog you will find photos, videos, up-coming events, notices and a range of other exciting information that we would love to share with you!

Poetry Competition

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I'd like to gloat - yes, I love doing this from time to time! Some of the tamariki are making excellent progress in their learning, and I'm very proud of their efforts. If you'd like to find out more, about your child's progress, please just pop into Room 11.

Each Thursday, we get stuck into writing some poetry with Mrs. Koster. A lot of this magnificent poetry is on display in the classroom or cloakroom. The fabulous Mrs. Koster entered some poems that tickled her fancy into the Poetry Box's  (http://nzpoetrybox.wordpress.com) 'Third Fabulous Poetry Competition'. Author Paula Green runs this website and had her friend, Catriona Ferguson, the Director of the NZ Book Council, join her and select the winners in the weekend.

It is with great pride that I can announce Russley School's entry WON the South Island category! Some super poems were selected from Room 11 to make up Russley's entry. Have a read:

I Wish I Could Change the World

I wish I could change the world
I wish every piece of grass were curled
I wish I owned every shop
I wish popcorn did not pop
I wish I could breathe ice
I wish I could get advice from mice

The Lady Who Stood There

Her eyes were as blue as the sea.
Her smile was a perfect as a perfect piece of art.
She was as tall as a skyscraper.
She had a dress as pink as a marshmallow.
Her hair was as blond and straight as a yellow plank in the playground.
Her high heels were as pink as a rose.
She looked like a fashion model.
She smelt like lemons and limes.
Her dog looked like a small lion.
Her perfectness was as perfect as perfect could be.

I Wish I Could Fly

I wish I could fly
I wish the houses and the school
were made out of chocolate
I wish Turbo was real to race

I Wish I had a Sheep

I wish that I had a sheep
I wish that I had a sheep so I could be Bo-Peep
I wish my sheep did tricks
I wish my sheep picked at the hay
I wish that it had thumbs
I wish that it got plums
I wish that it drank rum

I Wish I Was Famous

I wish I was famous and had ten top hits

I wish I was famous, but girls would chase me
and that would be irritating...

I Wish I Lived In Candyland

I wish I lived in Candyland
I wish I could drink chocolate milk
I wish I could eat chocolate fingers
I wish I had a bed made of marshmallows
I wish I could eat trees of liquorice
I wish the snow was made of ice cream
I wish the clouds were made of candyfloss
I wish water was lemonade
I wish soap was sugar

I Wish I Was Famous

I wish I was famous and rich.
I wish I was famous because I can sing.
I wish I was famous so people could see me.

I wish I was famous...
but I would get sick of signing autographs.

I Wish

I wish there were no teachers.
I wish lollies could rain down to the ground.
I wish I was rich
I wish I could fly.
I wish I was fast.
I wish we didn’t do homework or maths.
