Welcome to Room 6's Blog...

We are one of the Year 3 & 4 classes at Russley School. We aim to work together well so that we can achieve success in everything we do. To help us be successful students we use the Russley Dispositions. They help us to train our brains to think successfully when we are faced with problems where the answer is not immediately known. On our Blog you will find photos, videos, up-coming events, notices and a range of other exciting information that we would love to share with you!

Kia ora everyone...

A few students are getting very close to earning 50 points for their homework and there's some super progress being made in spelling with some kids really embracing the Essential Spelling List Homework Challenge. Thank you so very much to those parents who are supporting this initiative.

At last week's class meeting Emily was absent. We talked about the following things:
- Tina being a 'reserve' if Xanthe or Ava are away
- Class jobs
- Class Goal
- Strike Sheet for the whiteboard
- Call It Out, Write It Out
- Leaving your homework book at home
- Touch rugby in Term 2

This last week we enjoyed: Swimming sports, Miss Sopp, Team singing, Golden Time, Awards Assembly, Niamh's birthday cake, Mrs. Ussher's holiday story, Max dancing at the Awards Assembly and the library.

Class Goal: to walk in the classroom

A lot of the class are aiming to become expert ‘times tablers’ as last Friday, with the help of Yash from Room 7, I launched the Times Table Challenge. At home, please test the tables out loud. Then practice and learn the ones that your child doesn’t know. Writing them onto flash cards is a great idea.

I’m going to be away from Thursday as I’m competing in the NZ Surf Life Saving Championships in Gisborne. Mrs. Paul and Miss. Sopp will teaching while I’m away. I’ll be back on Tuesday next week. Below are a couple of shots of my crew in action at the North Island Surf Boat Championships last month.

I hear that we’ll be exploring the lives of insects soon…

Have a great week, everyone!

Ka kite ano!
