Welcome to Room 6's Blog...

We are one of the Year 3 & 4 classes at Russley School. We aim to work together well so that we can achieve success in everything we do. To help us be successful students we use the Russley Dispositions. They help us to train our brains to think successfully when we are faced with problems where the answer is not immediately known. On our Blog you will find photos, videos, up-coming events, notices and a range of other exciting information that we would love to share with you!

Hello everyone...

I hope you all had an enjoyable break adjusting to the cooler climate and are looking forward to an exciting term ahead.

I had a blast with my kids, Flynn and Isla, and after 61 weeks of being out of our home for 'earthquake repairs', we moved back in! We were only meant to be out for 20! Sigh...

Learning Programme
Our learning programme will continue to place emphasis on the key learning areas of Reading, Writing and Mathematics.  Major units of work will be integrated across these curriculum areas to ensure that our students gain from deeper and more meaningful learning experiences.  Other curriculum focuses include:

PE – large ball skills and sport rotations
Oral Language – Team Poetry Recital Competition
Science – Chemistry

As part of our Science unit we have arranged a visit from Science Alive. Science Alive staff will be coming on site on Thursday 30th of April to run a two hour ‘Chem-ystry’ session with Room 6each class. The cost of this per student is $7.50, which will be added to the cost of your Term 2 activity fees.

We've spent a bit of time this week learning about Anzac Day. Hopefully your child has relayed this? We've spent a lot of time talking about why the soldiers who died, are remembered on the 25th of April. Anzac Day is closely linked to the war that both countries were involved in at Gallipoli, but these days Anzac Day is held to remember all Australian and New Zealand soldiers that were killed in all wars. This day is so important that it has been made a public holiday in Australia and New Zealand.

Today Maddie and Xavier were elected as our Class Chairs for Term 2 Congratulations! Both gave effective speeches to the class. They will be awesome. Our first Class Meeting will be next Thursday or Friday.

As always, please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions or require any further information.
